B.I.V.F.D. Fishing Tournament July 16-18, 2010

Benefiting the Block Island Volunteer Fire Department

All are welcome to this annual event.  National and local businesses have donated generous prizes for tournament winners.  Registration included a tournament shirt and a cookout at the Firebarn.

Rules and Info

·        Species targeted – Striped Bass, Bluefish, and Fluke.

·        Anglers may pre-register at Block Island Fishworks (Ocean Avenue) and Twin Maples Bait and Tackle (Beach Avenue).

·        Fee: $40 registration fee, Juniors (under 16) are $20.  Includes a t-shirt and ticket for awards party on Sunday at 2pm at the Firebarn.

·        Fishing will start at 6pm on Friday and end at 12pm on Sunday.

·        All fish must be weighed in to be eligible for prizes.

·        Weigh-ins will be held at Block Island Fishworks and Twin Maples during normal business hours. 

·        Tournament limits: minimum size for Fluke is 20”, Bluefish is 24”, and Striped Bass must be 36”.

Tournament Format
The heaviest fish in each species will qualify for the prize drawing at the cookout on Sunday at 2pm at the Firebarn.  There will be a 'tri-fecta' prize for the angler who catches the heaviest of each species.

Fish may be caught by shore or boat using natural bait or artificials.    NO spear fishing allowed.

Weigh-in’s

·        Weigh ins will be held at Block Island Fishworks and Twin Maples daily, during normal business hours

·        Fish will be weighed and a fin clipped. 

·        Be sure to verify weight with weigh master.
