TOURNAMENT FORMAT;

The fishing will start on Friday evening at 6pm and run until Sunday 12 noon .   National and local businesses have donated generous prizes for winners. $40 dollar entry fee includes a tourney T-shirt and an all you can eat and drink cookout.  All of the proceeds will once again be donated to the National Children's Cancer Society.

Rules and Info

·         Species targeted – Striped Bass, Bluefish, Fluke, Atlantic Bonito, and False Albacore.

·         All fish must be caught on conventional, spin, or fly fishing tackle.  Bait allowed for Striped Bass and fluke only.

·         Each Angler must check in and register between 4:00 and 6:00pm on Friday, Sept.13 at Block Island Fishworks on Ocean Avenue - $40 registration fee, includes a tourney t-shirt and post party ticket. 

·         Fishing will start at 6pm on Friday Sept.13 and ends at the 12pm weigh in on Sunday, Sept.15

·         All fish must be weighed in to be eligible for prizes.

·         Tournament limits: minimum length for bluefish is 24”, Striped Bass must be 32" for Fly Fisherman, 36" for all other categories.  The use of any natural baits (eel skins, squid, sandworms, etc…) in conjunction with artificial baits (plugs, tubes, jigs, etc…) will be considered in the ‘bait’ division.  

*** People arriving late on Friday or Saturday morning can still register - just call the shop or email us so we know you are coming***

Tournament Format
The heaviest fish in each of the categories below will qualify for the prizes on Sunday at 1pm during the cookout.  There are 3 divisions listed below.  

Fly Fishing Division (eight possible qualifying fish)
Boat - Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Bonito   
Beach - Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Bonito

Spin / Conventional Division (eight possible qualifying fish)
Boat - Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Bonito
Beach - Striped Bass, Bluefish, False Albacore, Bonito

Bait – Bass and Fluke Only (one winning fish)

This year we will allow bait for Striped Bass and Fluke only, from the boat or beach –bass must be a minimum 38” to qualify, Fluke must be at least 19” to qualify.  Circle hooks are encouraged.

Weigh-in’s will be at Block Island Fishworks at the following times;
Saturday         9am - 5pm at Block Island Fishworks
Sunday           9am - 12pm at Block Island Fishworks

·        Fish will be weighed and a fin clipped. 

·        Be sure to verify weight after weighing your fish.

            Striped Bass              Fly Fishing – 32”
                                                Plugging – 36”
                                                Trolling – 36”
                                                Bait -   36”
             Fluke                           Bait Only- 20”
            Bluefish                      24” (no bait)
            F. Albacore or Bonito     one per angler
